There Are Some Very Confused People Out There
Sam Harris has written an amusing article. An excellent quote therefrom: "Rarely does one discover nonsense in such a pristine state." You can tell he's delighted and mortified at the same time by some of what he's found (as am I).

I was puzzled over those results myself when I looked at the Pew survey. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some randomizers out there from both sides (believers and nonbelievers) "maliciously [wasting] the pollster's time."
Still, given my experiences as an active participation in some online forums, a general lack of education and coherent thought process should not be ruled out.
